SERVICES & FEES

We aim to provide a professional service:-

• by helping clients who wish to learn and appreciate where they have come from and to leave a legacy for those yet to come;
• to clients who may want assistance in learning more about their ancestors, including putting flesh on bones and learning about the social times their ancestors may have lived through;
• to clients who may have brick walls or simply don’t know where to go next;
• by carrying out clients’ requirements to a high standard with due diligence, giving both regular feedback and providing evidence based PDF reports, including recommendations for future research.

BESPOKE RESEARCH

After an initial 30 minute consultation, free of charge, we will confirm by email the agreed course of action, which will depend on the amount of work required and your budget. 

For straight forward research in England & Wales going back to early 19th Century, our hourly rates for basic research are very competitive with expenses extra. The expenses may include, but are not exclusive to, the following:-

> obtaining documents on your behalf;
> photocopying or downloading documents;
> cost of units to websites where no subscription is currently held;
> cost of photography permit where applicable;
> report writing;
> materials;
> reading and responding to emails as well as answering telephone queries;
> postage and packaging; and
> travelling costs and archive entrance fees where applicable.

Please note there is no charge for normal travel within the M25. The additional purchase of documents, for example Birth, Marriage or Death Certificates or Wills, will be agreed in advance.

For research before 1837 and for more complicated and bespoke research an individual quotation will be given after consultation. Such research may include, but are not exclusive to, the following:-

> census returns;
> parish records, including settlement and removal papers, bastardy bonds and agreements, workhouse records, to name but a few.
> electoral rolls;
> poll books;
> apprentice records;
> court records; 
> planning documents;
> newspaper articles;
> various directories;
> house histories.

HOUSE HISTORIES

Have you been enthralled by the BBC’s Series “A House Through Time”? Would you like to know about the history of the house you are currently living in or maybe grew up in? We can help you by building up a full picture where possible. Prices are available on request.

DNA TESTED?

Have you had your DNA tested but do not understand or know what to do with your results? We are able to help manage your results, download and upload your results to other sites, build a family tree and contact any matches on your behalf. Prices available on request.

GIFT VOUCHERS

Stuck for a present for someone who is interested in their family history? Then a gift voucher may be the answer. The voucher can be for values of £100.00, £150.00 or the full cost of the Beginner or Double Package above. In all cases the recipient will be consulted before work begins and will be carried out to the value specified.

PHOTOGRAPHY

We can also, in certain cases, take photographs of your ancestor’s home, should it still exist, the general area that they lived in, graves, headstones and MIs, if legible, and other notable places relevant to your individual ancestor, within reasonable travelling distance. Price available on request.

PAYMENT

A deposit will be required before commencement of any work, either 50% if one of the packages or advance payment for a set block of hours, minimum booking 2 hours, which will be agreed in advance.
